Labor Day 130 2016

Come join this group ride through beautiful, scenic southern Vermont. The ride showcases a variety of dirt, gravel and paved roads with an elevation gain of 7500+ feet over 85 miles. It is a challenging course that will be unmarked, unsupported and will be no drop format.  The goal is to ride hard, but as group, finish and enjoy the fruits of your “Labor”.

This ride is not for the faint of heart, obviously, and a good training base is strongly suggested. We will pass a couple stores if you need to refuel, but it be best to come prepared – with food and fitness!!

WHO:  Brought to you by the RAS Ride and Fast Fin Productions, all proceed go to Rare Disease Research.  https://rasopathiesnet.org/

WHEN: Sunday, September 4, 2016.  730am we roll!

WHERE: Starting in Peru, traveling through Langrove, Weston; via the Danby/ Mt Tabor road or Forest Rd 11, up and over Danby Mountain, into Dorest, through parts of Manchester, Sunderland, to the Kelly Stand Road (which is the biggie) 2000 vertical feet in one whack up to Stratton.  Vermont Sports calls it “a beautiful, historic dirt road that winds through the forest as it follows the South Fork of the Roaring Branch”.  Still more climbing to be had as the dirt turns to pavement from the old town of Stratton to the base of the ski area.  Then a smooth fast decent into Bondville, great place to stop for a Snickers and a Coke.  We’ll take 30 South to Rte. 100 North towards S. Londonderry and cut across Spring Hill and South roads back to Peru.  The meeting place can vary depending on numbers but I think Hapgood Store in Peru would work perfectly.

You semi-local Manchester/Dorest folks are welcome to meet us at HN Williams.  Arrival time by 940-10am.

WHY:  Because it’s fun and rewarding to challenge yourself with something difficult and send good vibes to a great cause that needs attention.
